Where in the World Do you Find Recipes?!

I think the question I get the most is, where in the world do you find recipes?! Of course there are different places.

  1. Pinterest
  2. I modify my own recipes, of which I do and will share with you. 🙂
  3. Cookbooks

Today I am going to talk about number 3. Cookbooks. My absolute favorite cookbook author is Danielle Walker, over at Against All Grain. I have all 4 of her books. I have not made anything of hers yet, that I or my family did not like. I am going to list each of her books, and mention a few of my favorites from each book. I am going to list them in the order that I received them…just because. 🙂

My sister-in-law, who has hashimoto’s, introduced me to her, with the start of this Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. I was hooked! LOL

The first book I purchased was Eat What You Love.

Because this was my first book, I have probably tried the most recipes from this one. Some favorites we have tried are:

  • Chocolate Doughnuts pg. 33
  • Chili Cornbread Pie pg. 170
  • Chicken ‘n’ Dumpling soup pg. 173
  • Chicken Piccata with Artichokes and Spinach pg. 185 (My husband said the only thing missing here is mushrooms…so I now add mushrooms to this one.)
  • Sloppy Joes pg. 190 (my family was not a fan of sloppy joes…but we LOVE this!)
  • Honey-Mustard Sheet-pan Salmon pg 213
  • Sheet-pan Teriyaki Salmon with Broccoli and Asparagus pg. 224
  • Snickerdoodles pg 280 LOVE LOVE LOVE
  • Mint Slims pg 283…think Girl Scout Cookies…<3

The next book I purchased was Celebrations. I was going to put the next 3 books on my Christmas list, but then I heard there was a Spinach Artichoke dip recipe in this book…and decided I needed it…NOW. My husband actually bought it for me as a “Just because present…” and I am so glad he did! This book changed Thanksgiving for me…it saved Thanksgiving for me!

This book is sort of organized by Holiday or special event. Such a fun book! Here are some favs from this book:

  • Spinach Artichoke Dip pg. 35
  • Cinnamon Rolls pg 268
  • Cranberry sauce pg 238
  • Sunbutter Chocolate cups pg. 210
  • Cutout cookies pg 311
  • Christmas Fudge pg 312
  • Marshmallows pg. 316 AMAZING!
  • Apple Sausage Stuffing pg 246 OH MY GOODNESS! This made my s-i-l about cry!
  • Maple Pumpkin Pie pg 256…THIS made ME about cry!
  • Eggnog pg 319 One of our favorite December drinks has always been eggnog. I was sad that I wouldn’t be able to share it with David this past December…until I found this recipe! I was able to keep up “our little tradition.”
  • Blender bread pg 323 I keep this made and in my freezer!

The last 2 books, I got for Christmas. I have not made as much from them, but what I have we loved! Main reason, is because I had a small flare up after Christmas and spent most of my time since then trying to recoup. So I did not try many “new” recipes during this time.

Against All Grain delectable paleo recipes.

The above Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is in this book. pg. 258 There are a lot of yummy looking things in this book, I am anxious to try!

Last, but not least…Against all Grain, Meals made simple.

  • Biscuits pg 56
  • Fudgy brownies pg 282 These are THE BEST BROWNIES…hands down!

Again, there are a lot of yummy looking recipes in here I can not wait to try! I will certainly share with you all when I do!
